2007 Pinot Noir Monterey

(not eligible for discounts)

Pinot Noir was the first wine we made under the Praxis label.  Praxis is derived from the Greek word for practice as a doctor or lawyer practices their craft.  Praxis was also a pre-Arts and Crafts philosophy espousing the importance of striving for perfection while knowing that it will never be fully achieved.  Since launching the label, we have also found that it is a moon of the Klingon home planet on Star Trek and a verb for domination in an on-line vampire game.

This is our seventh vintage of Pinot Noir and our third from this vineyard in Monterey.  The color is deep garnet with ruby highlights.  Aromas of bing cherries, ripe plums, vanilla and caramel rise from the glass followed by hints of smoke and forest floor.  The Pinot has lovely flavors of cherry and plum with a touch of allspice.  Soft and full bodied, the wine is elegantly balanced with a bright, crisp acidity.
