2008 Praxis Dry Rose In the spirit of Praxis where practice makes perfect, Bill gets to play a little as a winemaker. He had not made a rose for over twenty years, but wanted to explore the style again. The Syrah grapes are from the heart of the Alexander Valley; the same vineyard where we source our Merlot. The grapes for this second vintage of Syrah Rose were slightly riper than our 2007 grapes creating a wine that is fuller and richer. The wine is a beautiful salmon color with a floral, strawberry nose. Flavors of strawberry, watermelon and guava are accented by a little spice and vanilla. The wine is dry and has bright acidity with a medium body. $12.50 Current Release

2007 Praxis Merlot The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard on a rise in the heart of Alexander Valley – the same vineyard that garnered our 2004 Merlot the title of Best American Merlot Under $20 in Food & Wine Magazine (October, 2007) and praise for our 2006 Merlot as “Merlot before it was mass produced…lip-smacking velvety, with a little complexity and guts.” Woodbury Magazine (Fall 2009) The color is a deep red with purple highlights. The nose offers vanilla, black cherry and plum, with warm spices and dry herbs. The wine is sleek and elegant with good acidity and full mouthfeel. Flavors of strawberry, blackberry, pomegrante and cassis are complemented by vanilla and spice. The wine has a long finish with soft tannins and toasty oak $17.00 Current Release

2008 Praxis Pinot Noir Monterey Pinot Noir was the first wine we made under the Praxis label. Praxis is derived from the Greek word for practice as a doctor or lawyer practices their craft. Praxis was also a pre-Arts and Crafts philosophy espousing the importance of striving for perfection while knowing that it will never be fully achieved. Since launching the label, we have also found that it is a moon of the Klingon home planet on Star Trek and a verb for domination in an on-line vampire game. $18.00 Current Release

2007 Praxis Lagrein “Bright violet red to purple hue.
